Get a Korean name from your birth date

This Korean name generator suggests three Korean names for you based on your birthday. It reads your Saju (Four Pillars) chart, finds the energy your chart can use most (your useful element), and picks names whose sounds carry that energy. Every name comes with the Hangul spelling, the romanization, how to say it and what it means. It is a fun way to find a name that fits, not an official naming service.

How your Korean name is chosen

In Saju, your birth date and time become eight characters, and each character belongs to one of the five elements: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal or Water. Counting them shows which element your chart has plenty of and which it could use more of. The names here are chosen so that the first and last sounds carry the element that helps, using the traditional table that matches Korean consonants to the five elements. The sounds are also checked against your last name, so the whole name flows from one syllable to the next, following the generating cycle where possible.

After the sounds, two quieter things come in: the character of your Day Master and the season you were born in. Each name's meaning leans toward the feeling that sits well with those. If you typed a first name, names with a similar opening sound are tried first, so the result feels a little closer to the name you already use.

Your Korean last name

Most Koreans share a small set of family names, so there is no one-to-one translation of an English surname. By default the generator maps your last name to the closest common Korean surname by sound or by its first letter, for example Kim, Lee, Park or Choi. You can instead let your Saju suggest a surname whose sound suits your chart, or pick one yourself from the twenty most common surnames.

If you don't know your birth time

You can leave the birth time out. The chart is then read with six characters instead of eight, and the names are chosen from that. Adding the time lets all eight characters be read, which gives a more precise match. If you were born outside Korea, choose your birth city so the chart uses your local clock time.

What this is, and what it isn't

These are playful, Saju-inspired names built from sounds and meanings. They are not a legal name, and traditional Korean naming also uses Hanja characters and family naming conventions that are outside this tool. The names say nothing about how your life will go; they are simply suggestions to enjoy, say out loud and share. Your name and birth details are worked out in this browser and are not sent to a server or stored.
